By accessing or using the Civon platform at civon.org (the "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
The Platform is operated by Copygen Inc. ("Civon," "we," "us," or "our"), a company incorporated in the State of Delaware, United States.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice on the Platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Civon is a civic mobilization and fundraising platform designed for organizations and individuals who want to create change. The Platform enables users to:
Civon acts as a technology platform. We provide the tools; organizations and individuals are responsible for the content, campaigns, and causes they promote through it.
To use most features of the Platform, you must create an account. By registering, you agree that:
You may register using your email address or through a third-party authentication provider (such as Google). When using third-party authentication, you authorize us to receive your basic profile information from that provider.
Organizations that register on Civon are responsible for:
Civon is not a registered charity, political committee, or fundraising entity. Organizations are solely responsible for any regulatory filings, disclosures, or registrations required by law.
"User Content" includes any text, images, data, or other material you submit to the Platform, including petition text, campaign descriptions, comments, and profile information.
You retain ownership of all User Content you submit. We do not claim ownership of your content.
By submitting User Content, you grant Civon a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, and sublicensable license to use, host, store, reproduce, modify, distribute, display, and communicate your content as necessary to provide and promote the Platform. This includes displaying petitions publicly, sending campaign emails, and sharing campaigns through social media integrations.
You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights to submit your User Content and that it does not infringe any third-party rights. You are solely responsible for the content you publish.
When creating or participating in petitions on the Platform, you agree to the following:
Civon reserves the right to remove petitions that violate these rules or applicable law, with or without prior notice.
Civon enables organizations to collect donations from supporters. All payment processing is handled by Stripe, our third-party payment processor.
You may not use the Platform to:
All rights, title, and interest in the Platform, including the website, software, design, logos, trademarks, and content created by Civon, are and remain the exclusive property of Copygen Inc. and its licensors.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works based on the Platform or any of its components without our prior written consent.
The name "Civon," the Civon logo, and related marks are trademarks of Copygen Inc. You may not use them without our written permission.
The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not guarantee that the Platform will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. We do not guarantee the success of any petition or campaign, the number of signatures collected, or the amount of donations received.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Copygen Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the Platform.
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to these Terms or the Platform shall not exceed the amount you paid to Civon in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or one hundred U.S. dollars ($100), whichever is greater.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Copygen Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent or illegal activity, or if your conduct harms the Platform or other users. Upon termination:
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Platform shall be resolved exclusively in the federal or state courts located in Wilmington, Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
Before filing any formal claim, you agree to first contact us and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least thirty (30) days. Most issues can be resolved quickly through direct communication.
